ICC T20 Cricket World Cup: South Africa Beat Sri Lanka By 6 Wickets

In the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

South Africa overhauled the target of 78 runs, scoring 80 for Four, in just 16.2 overs.

Earlier, opting to bat first, Sri Lanka were bundled out for a paltry 77 runs in 19.1 overs. Kusal Mendis was the top scorer for Sri Lanka, scoring 19 runs in 30 balls.

This was Sri Lanka’s lowest total in T20 cricket. For the Proteas, Anrich Nortje scalped four wickets, conceding just seven runs in four overs.

Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each. Nortje was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Afghanistan will take on Uganda at the Providence Stadium in Guyana this morning.

In the ICC T20 World Cup Cricket, David Wiese’s all-round heroics in the Super-Over gave Namibia a victory in their opening ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match here at Kensington Oval.
Oman posted a total of 109/10 against Namibia’s disciplined bowling. However, Mehran Khan’s stunning spell helped Oman tie the game, taking the match in the super-over.
Namibia come out with flying colours in the Super Over and posted 21 without loss, which Wiese successfully defended by conceding just 10 runs and picking up a wicket to seal the victory in their opening Group B match.
In another match, Sri Lanka will take on South Africa at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, today. The match will start at 8 PM.
