Border-Gavaskar Trophy – Australia Thrash India by 10 Wickets, Level Series 1-1
Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Pat Cummins’s stellar performance with his first five-wicket haul at the Adelaide Oval powered Australia to a dominant 10-wicket victory over India in the second Test, leveling the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series at 1-1.
Cummins, the Australian skipper, claimed 5-57 on Sunday, dismantling the Indian lower order and restricting the visitors to 175 in their second innings, leaving Australia with a modest target of just 19 runs.
Australia chased the target effortlessly, securing victory without losing a wicket. Resuming the day at 128/5, India’s batting collapsed, losing their remaining wickets for a mere 47 runs in 12.5 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored for India with 42, but his efforts were overshadowed by Cummins’s brilliance with the pink ball.
In the first innings, India opted to bat but were bundled out for 180. Australia responded emphatically, putting up 337 on the board and establishing a commanding lead of 157 runs.
The series now moves to Brisbane for the third Test, starting December 14, followed by matches in Melbourne on December 26 and Sydney on January 3.
Australia’s clinical win has set the stage for an exciting remainder of the series, with both teams eyeing the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
