Wildfires Rage in Los Angeles Due to Santa Ana Winds
In the USA, firefighters in Los Angeles are battling multiple wildfires as strong Santa Ana winds intensify, raising the risk of rapid fire spread. Southern California is currently under extremely critical fire conditions, with new blazes threatening to reverse recent firefighting progress.
One of the newest fires, dubbed the Auto Fire, ignited late yesterday in Ventura County, an area identified as being at the highest risk due to the winds. Local media report that the Eaton and Palisades fires are likely the second and fourth most destructive wildfires in California’s history.
The combined area scorched by the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires covers approximately 60 square miles, surpassing the size of Paris. Early estimates by AccuWeather suggest these fires could become the costliest in U.S. history, with total damages projected to exceed $250 billion.
In response to the ongoing disaster, major Hollywood studios have stepped up to provide substantial aid for wildfire victims. Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have each pledged $15 million, while Amazon, Comcast, and Netflix have committed $10 million each. Sony has contributed $5 million. These funds are directed toward organizations such as the California Fire Department and the Red Cross.
