Allu Arjun Arrested in Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case

Hyderabad police have arrested actor Allu Arjun in connection with a tragic stampede at Sandhya Theatre on December 4. The incident claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and left her eight-year-old son critically injured.

The Incident

On the night of December 4, a massive crowd gathered outside Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun. The uncontrolled crowd resulted in chaos, leading to the suffocation of Revathi and her son. Revathi was declared dead at the hospital, while her son is currently receiving treatment at a super-speciality hospital.

Police Action

A case has been registered against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Chikkadpally police station took action based on a complaint lodged by Revathi’s family.

The Hyderabad Police have also arrested three other individuals: a co-owner of the theatre, its senior manager, and the in-charge of the lower balcony area.

Negligence Alleged

According to the police, the theatre management and the actor’s team failed to make necessary arrangements for crowd control.

“The theatre management did not implement additional security measures or arrange separate entry and exit points for the actor’s arrival, despite being aware of the situation,” a police spokesperson said.

Sequence of Events

At around 9:30 PM, Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre accompanied by his personal security team. As he entered, the crowd outside attempted to follow him.

“The actor’s security team began pushing back the public, which worsened the situation. A significant number of people surged into the lower balcony area,” police explained.

Amidst the chaos, Revathi and her son were suffocated. On-duty police personnel performed CPR on the boy and immediately shifted them to a hospital. Unfortunately, Revathi could not be saved.

Current Status

The eight-year-old boy is currently undergoing treatment at a super-speciality hospital. Police continue to investigate the incident, focusing on lapses in security and crowd management.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety protocols during public events.
