New Delhi: A wave of panic swept across Delhi on Monday morning as at least 40 schools received bomb threats via email. The threats, which included a ransom demand of $30,000, targeted prominent institutions like GD Goenka School, DPS RK Puram, Mother Mary’s School, British School, Salwan Public School, and Cambridge School.
The emails, sent on December 8th, contained a chilling message: “I planted multiple bombs… If I do not receive USD 30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”
In response to the threats, authorities swiftly mobilized. Students were evacuated from affected schools, and fire officials, bomb detection teams, and police units conducted thorough searches. However, as of now, no suspicious devices have been found.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi strongly condemned the incident, blaming the central government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the city. “After the daily incidents of ransom, murders, firing in Delhi, now threats of bombing of schools are being received,” she tweeted. “The BJP-ruled central government has failed in its only task of providing security to the people of Delhi.”
