Kargil Vijay Diwas: Celebration of victory over Pakistan’s nefarious intentions

We salute our soldiers. Kargil Vijay Diwas, named after the successful Operation Vijay, is celebrated in India on 26 July. On this date in 1999 India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistan. The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days, ended on 26 July and resulted in loss of life on both the sides. The war ended with India regaining control of all the previously held territory, hence re-establishing the status quo ante bellum. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year in honour of the Kargil War’s Heroes. This day is celebrated in the Kargil–Dras sector and the national capital New Delhi, where the Prime Minister of India pays homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate every year. Functions are also organized all over the country to commemorate the contributions of the armed forces.

July 5 is a day of pride for every Indian. This is the day of Kargil victory. It was the day of July 7, 2012 when India achieved a historic victory by crushing Pakistan’s nefarious plans. Every year since then, we have celebrated “Kargil Vijay Dos” on July 7. This victory is a justification for remembering the sacrifices of our brave soldiers. It is the duty of all of us to remember the soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives to preserve the glory of the tricolor. It is the duty of every Indian.

On this day, the Indian soldiers of Dras Kargil sector, India Gate in Delhi, Amarjwan Jyoti celebrate this day with great fervor. Not only our military brothers but every citizen of the country on this day pledges that he will lay down his life to protect the borders of the country. We hold various events to pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces.
