WPL 2025 Auctions: Dottin, Shaikh, Kamalini Lead Bids
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction witnessed some remarkable moments today at ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru. Star players and promising talents commanded impressive bids, with Deandra Dottin, Simran Shaikh, G Kamalini, and Prema Rawat grabbing the spotlight.
West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, listed with a base price of ₹50 lakh, emerged as a top pick. The Gujarat Giants secured her services for an astounding ₹1.7 crore, making her one of the auction’s highlights.
The biggest surprise of the day came from the uncapped Indian players, who garnered massive attention and deals. Mumbai batter Simran Shaikh became the most expensive uncapped player, with Gujarat Giants shelling out ₹1.9 crore for her.
In another notable deal, Mumbai Indians acquired 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini, known for her explosive hitting, for ₹1.6 crore. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand all-rounder Prema Rawat joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹1.2 crore.
The Delhi Capitals made strategic buys, picking Uttarakhand wicketkeeper Nandini Kashyap for her base price of ₹10 lakh and uncapped India all-rounder N. Charani for ₹55 lakh.
Overseas players also found their place in the WPL squads. South African all-rounder Nadine de Klerk was signed by Mumbai Indians for ₹30 lakh. The UP Warriors strengthened their lineup by acquiring Australian leg-spinner Alana King for ₹30 lakh and uncapped Indian all-rounder Akshita Maheshwari for ₹20 lakh.
The Gujarat Giants rounded out their purchases by adding England all-rounder Danielle Gibson to their roster for ₹30 lakh.
The 2025 WPL auction not only showcased the growing talent pool in women’s cricket but also underlined the increasing value and recognition of uncapped players, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
