South Korean Actor Song Jae Rim Found Dead at 39

South Korea’s beloved actor Song Jae Rim has passed away at the age of 39. He was discovered in his apartment in Seoul’s Seongdong district on Tuesday.

Authorities found a two-page letter at the scene but have confirmed no signs of foul play. The cause of death remains under investigation.

Song Jae Rim’s passing comes just weeks after his latest public appearances, where he had actively promoted recent dramas My Military Valentine and Queen Woo, both released earlier this year. His last appearance was on MBC FM4U’s Good Morning FM in August, where he shared light-hearted ambitions, including becoming a fragrance expert and a meat processing technician.

Rim gained widespread recognition through various leading roles in South Korean dramas and films.

The 2012 MBC drama The Moon Embracing the Sun was his breakthrough, where he portrayed the loyal bodyguard Kim Jae Won. He later earned critical acclaim for his recent role in the Paramount+ web series Queen Woo. His career began with his debut in the 2009 film Actresses and included notable roles in Inspiring Generation, Two Weeks, Goodbye Mr. Black, and more.

In 2014, he captured fans’ hearts on the variety show We Got Married, where he was paired with actress Kim So Eun.

Song Jae Rim’s funeral is being held at the Seoul Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital funeral hall, with the procession scheduled for noon on November 14. Fans and colleagues are mourning the loss of an actor whose warmth and talent resonated deeply on and off screen.
