Delhi Air Quality Hits 487: Flights and Trains Disrupted

The air quality in Delhi-NCR has worsened, plunging to the severe-plus category with an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 487 recorded at 11 AM today.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board shows AQI levels at key locations in Delhi: Punjabi Bagh at 497, Bawana at 495, Wazirpur at 494, Anand Vihar at 492, and Shadipur at 479.

The region experienced shallow to moderate fog early this morning, adding to the visibility challenges caused by the declining air quality.

The deteriorating conditions have disrupted travel significantly. Low visibility has delayed 11 flights, while seven were diverted. Northern Railways reported that 13 trains are running behind schedule.

Delhi Airport authorities have urged passengers to stay in touch with their airlines as low visibility procedures remain in place, potentially affecting flight operations.

SpiceJet and IndiGo have also issued advisories, asking passengers to verify their flight statuses as the poor visibility could impact departures, arrivals, and connecting flights.
