In view of the forecast of above normal maximum temperatures and heat waves in certain parts of the country, the Election Commission is holding a meeting with different stakeholders. The meeting is to discuss measures to mitigate the risk due to heat waves.
The officers from Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), National Disaster Management Authority and Health Ministry are attending the meeting.
According to the IMD, heat wave spell is expected to continue over eastern parts of the country in the next few days. The heat wave conditions will prevail in isolated pockets over eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and some other parts of the country in the next four to five days.
