The counting of votes for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir has concluded, while the process is still ongoing in Haryana.

The latest trends and results show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has crossed the majority mark in the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly, securing its third consecutive term in power. Meanwhile, the National Conference and Congress alliance is set to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir, having surpassed the halfway mark by winning 48 out of 90 seats in the assembly.

In Haryana, 89 results have been declared so far. The BJP has won 48 seats, while Congress has secured 36 seats and is leading in Rohtak. The Indian National Lok Dal has won two seats, and three seats have gone to independent candidates.

BJP leader and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini secured victory from the Ladwa seat with a margin of over 16,000 votes. State Minister Anil Vij defeated independent candidate Chitra Sarwara from the Ambala Cantt seat. Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda won the Garhi Sampla Kiloi seat in Rohtak by a margin of over 71,000 votes. Additionally, wrestler Vinesh Phogat, running for Congress, won from the Julana constituency.

Former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala lost from the Uchana Kalan constituency, finishing in fifth place. Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker of the outgoing Haryana Assembly, lost to Congress nominee Chander Mohan in the Panchkula constituency.

Polling for the 90-member Haryana Assembly took place on October 5.

In Jammu and Kashmir, results for all 90 seats have been announced.

The National Conference won 42 seats, while its alliance partner, the Indian National Congress, secured six seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 29 seats. The Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured three seats. The Jammu & Kashmir People’s Conference, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Aam Aadmi Party each won one seat. Independents claimed seven seats in the Union Territory.

Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah won from both the Budgam and Ganderbal constituencies. Peerzada Mohammad Syed of Congress won the Anantnag seat, and Abdul Majeed Bhat of the National Conference won from Anantnag West. Sajjad Gani Lone of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference secured victory in Handwara, while Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami of CPI(M) won from the Kulgam constituency.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti, daughter of PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, lost her electoral debut from the Bijbehara seat in South Kashmir. Senior National Conference leader Nasir Aslam Vani was defeated in Kupwara, and prominent PDP leader Abdul Rehman Bhat lost to Reyaz Ahmad Khan of the National Conference from Anantnag East. BJP state president Ravinder Raina also lost his election from the Nowshera constituency.

Polling for the 90 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir was held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
