Lakshya Sen to Face Axelsen in Paris Olympics Badminton Semis

At the Paris Olympics, Lakshya Sen, the lone Indian shuttler in the fray, will face Tokyo Olympics Gold medalist Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the semifinals today.

The match will start at 3:30 PM IST. A victory would secure Lakshya a spot in the final and ensure him a medal.

Tokyo Olympics medallist boxer Lovlina Borgohain will compete against China’s Li Qian in a quarterfinal bout in the Women’s 75kg category at 3:02 PM IST. The men’s hockey team will begin its quest for a spot in the semifinals when it takes on Great Britain in the quarterfinals at 1:30 PM IST.

A win would advance India to the last four for the second consecutive Olympics and put them in contention for medals.

Meanwhile, in shooting which has contributed to all three medals won by India in Paris so far, Commonwealth Games gold medallists Anish Bhanwala and Vijayveer Sidhu will compete in the qualification stage of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol. The first qualification stage is scheduled for 12:30 PM today.

In athletics, Parul Chaudhary will participate in the first round of the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase, aiming to advance to the final, while Jeswin Aldrin will seek to become the first Indian male long jumper to reach the final when he begins his campaign in the qualification round at 2:30 PM IST.
