Russia: India Deserves a Place Among World’s Superpowers

Russian President Vladimir Putin has highlighted the enduring partnership between India and Russia, calling the two countries “natural allies and partners.” Speaking at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi, Putin acknowledged India’s vast population, accelerating economic growth, and cultural depth, affirming that India deserves recognition as a global superpower.

Putin emphasized the significant cooperation between India and Russia, particularly in security and defense, which has strengthened over time. He described India as a “great nation” and noted that bilateral relations are expanding across various sectors. Pointing to India’s economic prowess, he praised its impressive 7.4% annual GDP growth, underlining India’s role in shaping the global economy.

Reflecting on history, Putin recalled the Soviet Union’s support for India during its independence, which he said has fostered a uniquely resilient and trusting relationship between the two nations.
