Weather Forecast: IMD warns of heavy rain in North India today
Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Himachal Pradesh as the state is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall including extremely heavy downpours today.
The IMD has asked people to avoid areas prone to waterlogging and stay away from vulnerable structures. An orange alert has also been issued for Punjab, North Haryana, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan as these areas are likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Uttarakhand is likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall till 12th of this month.
A heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for Meghalaya for today and tomorrow. In Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, heavy to very heavy rainfall including extremely heavy downpours is expected tomorrow and the day after.
Meanwhile, National Disaster Response Force NDRF is undertaking rescue operations in different states which are affected by heavy rainfall, floods, and landslides. 39 teams of the Force are deployed in four states. 14 teams of NDRF are in Punjab, 12 in Himachal Pradesh, eight in Uttarakhand, and five teams in Haryana.
