IDF Investigates if Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar Killed in Gaza
The IDF is investigating whether one of three terrorists killed by its forces in Gaza was Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
“At this time, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed,” the IDF stated.
The army clarified that no hostages were present in the area where the three were killed, countering reports that Sinwar had been hiding among hostages and using them as human shields. The IDF and Shin Bet forces are continuing operations with caution.
This statement comes after widespread online rumors about the incident. According to Channel 12, troops fired at a group of terrorists on the ground floor of a building. Upon entering, they found that one of the dead “resembled” Sinwar. A definitive identification is expected within hours, with a DNA sample being taken for confirmation.
