Jake Paul Defeats Mike Tyson by Decision in Thrilling Match
Jake Paul triumphed over Mike Tyson in an eight-round heavyweight bout at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night, securing a victory by unanimous decision.
The judges scored the fight 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in favor of Paul, the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer. The fight, sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, featured 2-minute rounds instead of the usual 3-minute duration for heavyweights, and the fighters wore 14-ounce gloves rather than the standard 10-ounce ones.
The much-anticipated clash was initially scheduled for July 20 but was postponed due to a health issue. Tyson, 58, suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles in May, which required medical attention.
Tyson, one of boxing’s all-time greats, boasts a legendary career with a record of 50 wins (44 by knockout) and 7 losses. He became the youngest heavyweight champion at 20 in 1986, unifying all major belts a year later and defending them six times before a stunning upset loss to James “Buster” Douglas in 1990.
