The World Blood Donor Day is being observed today. Every year countries around the world celebrate this day to thank individuals who donate blood and encourage more people to become new donors.
The slogan for this year’s World Blood Donor Day campaign is ‘Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often’. It focusses on patients requiring life long blood transfusion support and underlines the role every single person can play by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma. It also highlights the importance of giving blood or plasma regularly to create a safe and sustainable supply of blood that can be always available all over the world so that all patients in need can receive timely treatment.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has asked people to take pledge to donate blood regularly and give the priceless gift of life to someone. He also thanked all the blood donors for their life-saving donations and service to humanity. On the occasion, Union Minister of State for Health, Prof. S P Singh Baghel inaugurated a blood donation camp at RML Hospital in the national capital and interacted with blood donors.
