In Jammu and Kashmir, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced the implementation of a long-awaited ropeway project to bridge the gap between the demand and capacity of pilgrims and to make the journey more accessible for elderly and differently-abled devotees.
According to reports, the ropeway project is set to transform the pilgrimage experience, offering a safer, smoother, faster, and more inclusive journey for millions of devotees every year. The ropeway will connect Tarakote Marg to Bhawan, the main shrine area, significantly reducing the challenges of the 13-kilometer steep trek.
Designed with a focus on minimizing environmental impact, the ropeway route will also provide breathtaking views of the Trikuta hills, adding a spiritual and scenic dimension to the pilgrimage. This initiative is expected to be a game-changer, especially for those who find the arduous trek physically demanding.
Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Anshul Garg, stated that the ropeway will help accommodate the growing number of devotees visiting the shrine each year. Notably, in 2023, the Yatra reached a record-breaking milestone with over 95 lakh pilgrims, reflecting the increasing popularity of the holy site.
The project promises to enhance the overall pilgrimage experience while ensuring inclusivity and convenience for all.
